The Story of...
Boston Girl Guide and the woman behind it
~A guide for women to come together creatively~
Boston Girl Guide
The Boston Girl Guide is committed to
helping promote female Independent Artists, Photographers, Musicians,
Poets, Theater Groups, Comedians and Writers. We also cover signed artist,
non-profit events and many different types of venues. We introduce
independent artists and run them with signed artists so that they get media
exposure they deserve. The Boston Girl Guide also branches out to male indies and features them in the “Boys on the Side” pages.
On the web site you will find many forms of creative expression as well as a huge resource center for connecting you to the info you need. Check out the Photogallery and see all your favorite performers. We cover a lot of shows and our photographers shoot behind the scenes as well as the stage to bring you a back stage peek. We even have a top ten favorite list to turn you on to music that you may have not heard before. There is a lot to check out so be sure to keep checking in…
About Rose
Rose Gardina Creator: Boston Girl Guide
In 1999 Rose bought her first computer and with the help from
a few friends she taught herself how to work not only with a computer
but all the programs that are involved in publishing. The magazine/webzine
is completely her creation. She created the columns and has a wonderful
staff of writers and photographers that contribute to this publication.
Since June of 2000 she has committed herself to helping women in the arts
get the much needed media support that is so hard to come by in this industry.
Her goals are to become non-profit and eventually have some sort of grant
program that can be put into place to help these women financially as
well. If you work in non-profit and think you can help give her a call !
Rose has financed this project entirely on her
own and as a result these past few years have been extremely difficult
for her, but she has never given up. She felt that it was time to have
a creative venue for women and the Boston Girl Guide was born. The
bostongirlguide.com gets well over 50,000 hits a month and is updated
on a regular basis due to the overwhelming amount of Venues and Artists that
she supports.
She is an activist and is extremely passionate about all the organizations
that she supports and helps to spread the word for us to take action,
not only in our own communities but in the world around us as well.
She started RG Promotions that promoted Sophie B. Hawkins with Heather Bright in Sept. Of 2003
and in 2004 was one of the Main Event Coordinators for the Gay/Straight Youth
Pride in Boston.
She is currently managing rocker/poet/singer/songwriter Jennifer
Matthews. They have been on tour and working together since May of 2004. She released Jennifer's
record "The Wheel" in May of 2005 and "The Sunroom Sessions"
in June of 2006 on her own label "Thundamoon
Records". “Under the Sea” a children’s record by Kyle Davis and Jennifer Matthews was also recorded and released on Thundamoon Records in the summer of 2005.
She is a graphic Artist (Thundamoon Graphics) and web designer ..the biggest site being her own.
Rose is also an Artist, writer, photographer and poet. She is a true patron of the arts.
Quotes from Rose
"My dream was to have a magazine
that everyone could be a part of. To provide a place where creative women
could be seen and heard, and to provide a place for our current and future
stars to shine. It has been a great journey. I have learned and have grown
every step of the way. I have met some of the most ambitious, creative,
loving, spiritual, talented and amazing women.”
“This Publication is my gift to
all as well as myself. It is a place to be creative and to be heard. It
is a place to see how different yet how the same we all really are. Be
open and true to whom you are.
Believe in yourself and live your truth no matter where it may bring you and how hard it may be at times. We grow with every choice we make.
We learn with pain and happiness. And we search endlessly for life's answers."
"Travel light, live light, spread the light, be the light."
