About Us

The Boston Girl Guide is currently the only female promotion publication in the Boston area.  Women need a voice, and a place to express themselves. The Boston Girl Guide is committed to this.  We are poetry and visual art. We are music and movement . We are daring and deliriously twisted.  We need to be seen and heard.

We are ...

Boston Girl Guide

The Boston Girl Guide is committed to helping promote female Independent Artists, Photographers, Musicians, Poets, Theater Groups, Comedians and Writers. We also cover signed artist, non-profit events and many different types of venues. We try to introduce independent artist and run them with signed artist so that they get media exposure. The Boston Girl Guide is so much more than just a creative publication. They are involved with reaching out and helping in so many ways. On the web site you will find many forms of creative expression and so much information on other projects and organizations that really want to make a difference in the world. "We think real big here and the possibilities for us in our eyes are endless. There will always be hope on our pages." People can make a difference in this world. Rose is determined to be one of those people despite some of the obstacles that have come her way.

About Rose
Rose Gardina Creator: Boston Girl Guide
At the age of 38 Rose bought her first computer and with the help from a few friends she taught herself how to work not only with a computer but all the programs that are involved in publishing. The magazine/webzine is completely her creation. She created the columns and has a wonderful staff of writers and photographers that contribute to this publication.

Since June of 2000 she has committed herself to helping women in the arts get the much needed media support that is so hard to come by in this industry. Her goals are to become non-profit and eventually have some sort of grant program that can be put into place to help these women financially as well.

Rose has financed this project entirely on her own and as a result these past few years have been extremely difficult for her, but she has never given up. She felt that it was time to have a creative venue just for women and the Boston Girl Guide was born. The bostongirlguide.com gets well over 50,000 hits a month and is updated on a daily basis due to the overwhelming amount of venues and Artist that she supports.

She is an activist and is extremely passionate about all the organizations that she supports and helps to spread the word for us to take action, not only in our own communities but in the world around us as well.
She is involved with booking independent Artists and organizing large-scale events.
She has promoted Sophie B. Hawkins with Heather Bright in Sept. Of 2003 and in 2004 was one of the Event Coordinators for the Gay/Straight Youth Pride in Boston. She has her hand in many different projects and tries to help as many people as humanly possible.

She is currently managing rocker/poet/singer/songwriter Jennifer Matthews. She has been on tour with her since 2005. She released Jennifer's record "The Wheel" in May of 2005 and "The Sunroom Sessions" in June of 2006 on her own label "Thundamoon Records".

She is a web designer and graphic Artist, the biggest site being her own.
Rose is also an Artist, writer, photographer and poet.

Quotes from Rose

"My dream was to have a magazine that everyone could be a part of. To provide a place where creative women could be seen and heard, and to provide a place for our current and future stars to shine. It has been a great journey. I have learned and have grown every step of the way. I have met some of the most ambitious, creative, loving, spiritual, talented and amazing women.”

“We grow with every choice we make. We learn with pain and happiness. We search endlessly for life's answers. My goals here are to not judge or ridicule but to understand and to be understood. To respect everyone's views no matter how different they are and to truly love our family, friends and lovers unconditionally. Not just saying it but actually meaning it and trying to stay true, no matter how painful that may or may not be at times.
Reaching out and having a place to go and express myself and providing a place for the expressions of other women is something that I feel very passionate about. The Boston Girl Guide has given me a link to you the reader. You the singer. You the writer. You the poet. You the doctor, nurse, clerk, waitress, school bus driver, teacher, lawyer, counselor, construction worker, painter etc. And so, I encourage everyone to reach out and connect with the women in our community. Tell us your stories, your views, your passions, your dreams.”

“This Publication is my gift to all women and myself. It is a place to be creative and to be heard. It is a place to see how different yet how the same we all really are. Be open and true to whom you are. Women are many things. We are spiritual, sexual, funny, witty, kind, sarcastic, dramatic, loving, creative, etc. Believe in yourself ladies and may the white light forever shine upon you as you walk the path of life."
