Here's a simply fun CD that has a little something for everyone. Skorborealis is Danielle Howle & the Tantrums third release in their seven years together. They can only be qualified as eclectic folk rockers with a sense of humor and a whole lotta talent. Fear not the use of the word folk- why, track 15 is nothing less than a punk song with a little melodicness which helps it fit right in with the rest of the collection. Danielle, lyrically, can make you smile and occasionally leave you feeling a little disturbed about things in life. Her voice is mature and earthy, like Carly Simon, yet can be chameleon-like and take on a perfect twang when needed like in the tongue-in-cheek comic piece "Karaoke" or the simplistic "Let The Angels Commit." Their music has been described as unpretentious organic rock. Whatever style they take on to perform a song, they do it well. Outstanding musicianship steeped in skilled versatility lead by a quirky talent makes this one highly recommended CD. Check out the website Daniellehowle.com for more info and where to buy. |
