This promising debut from Kelley Morris showcases this political folk artist’s talents as a fine guitarist, songwriter and singer. The style harks back to Tracy Chapman’s early acoustic songs, as there is only guitar & voice on this CD. It may be bare boned but forthright delivery of meaningful lyrics gives the tunes an edgy intrigue. Kelley’s vocal quality also possesses a uniqueness reminiscent of Toni Childs or Joan Armatrading. If you’re a folkie, Kelley Morris merits further inquiry!
