I have always believed you get back
what you give,
and you give not because of what you'll get back in
return. When I do something good I get it back ten
fold because the feeling I get out of helping someone
or making a difference is truly amazing. You need to
give with no ego involved and no expectations. It is
such a me me me world and what am I gonna get out of
something. It puts renewed faith in me when I see
people helping out just because it's a good cause. We
seen a lot of that happen on 9-11 which was wonderful,
but people forget quickly and end up going back to the
same old, same old. I don't mean you have to go out
and try to save the world, it can be something as
simple as holding a door for someone or striking up a
conversation in the grocery line with the little old
lady that looks like such a lost soul. Just try it
for a week I promise you you'll feel so good about
yourself.
I think it is a very important thing to teach our
children. Most kids are growing up without any real
perception of the sacrifices and effort from where
everything came. If something breaks no big deal mom
or dad will just get me another one. If we can teach
them that giving is just as important as getting
something, they will then know the efforts and work
involved in what they receive.
I see generosity in so many ways through-out my
day and I am truly grateful for it all. I strive for
that in my life and my children's as well. I know
that being generous is just another way of opening
your heart and showing it to the world, and I hope
that for all of you.
